- AIG is the insurer of
the helicopter that crashed in London on Wednesday, resulting in the death of
two people and injuries to a further 13.
- Gibraltar based
insurer De Vert Insurance has gone bust, with the police undertaken an
investigation amid fraud accusations. De Vert is the third insurer in Gibraltar to go
bust in the past nine months.
- Professional Insurance Agents is participating a conference in Latvia attended by brokers from a wide
range of Eastern European countries. The organisation will lead a session on

PwC estimates that insurers will face claims totaling £1bn as a result of the 2012 floods, with premiums rising by as much as 50% in the worst affected areas.
A recent technology has concluded that the majority
of insurance brokers are not well versed on the merits and trading importance of
the internet and are failing to reap the benefits an on-line capability can
provide.
Professional Insurance Agents has confirmed the
appointment of Tim Grant as Interim Chief Operating Officer. Grant has held
senior management roles at DUAL Corporate Risks, Brit Insurance and AIG and will
assist the business in the development of both its UK and overseas
proposition.
